X2 Engineers - The Next Generation
Aberdeen is the Oil and Gas capital of Europe. A review of HESA statistics for Aberdeen and Nationally by
has revealed that;
- The number of Girls choosing to study engineering at HE level is considerably lower that Boys. Only 15% of engneering students are female and that figure has remained static for some years
- In the Aberdeen area 38 % of Boys going on to study 'Accademically Challenging' subjects at HE Level choose to study engineering. This figure is close to twice the national average
- In the Aberdeen area 5 % of Girls going on to study 'Accademically Challenging' subjects at HE level choose to study engineering. This figure is similar to the national average.
- The uptake of 'Accademically Challenging' HE Subjects by Boys and Girls are similar. However their preferences are clearly different, as shown in this Chart.
Heuristic Support would be delighted to facilitate a Campaign with the aim of replicating, for Girls, the above average uptake of engineering by Aberdeen area Boys. If you are interested in a way please go to the Campaign Page.
